"…Crab Shack, Baby!"
We made our first visit to Joe's Crab Shack at the new Jordan Creek Town Center recently. The food was great, and it's a fun place. Where else can you see the waitstaff break into a rendition of "Love Shack" by the B-52s? Click on the photos below to see more…

Grandma Reed and the girls

Jenna can sleep anywhere; just let her have her thumb!

Why so serious, Jen?

Jenna gets happy when it's time to eat

"What could be better than sucking my thumb?"

"...Sucking my thumb AND making an obscene finger gesture at the same time!"

Emma likes to share secrets with her "Mema"

Jenna checks out her shoes. Think she'll be a shoe fanatic like her sister and Grandma Reed?

Jenna hangs out with Dad

"I don't like that, Dad!"

A trip to Chuck E. Cheese's
Emma had wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese's for months. We finally gave in on Sept. 5. She loved going on the rides and playing the games, and even let Jenna go with her on a few rides. Click on the photos below to see more…

"Hey, I'm pretty sure my dad told me to watch out for guys like you."

"I KNOW my dad warned me about THAT!"

Emma's favorite ride was the Bob the Builder/Scoop ride.

Emma and Jenna both liked the Barney ride

Here are some photos of Emma at school on Sept. 8. Click on the photos below to see more…

Here she is waiting for "Olympic Gymnastics." The kids could do whatever gymnastics "moves" they wanted...

...After doing a few rounds of somersaults, here's what Emma did.

Emma waits in line again.

Emma with her best friend, Madisen. Hmmm... I wonder if they'll be doing this for real in 13 years? :-)

Jenna takes her first "big girl" bath
Jenna took her first "big girl" bath (in the big bathtub) on Sept. 8. And, she got to take it with her big sister, which Emma thought was pretty cool! Click on the photos below to see more…

"Hey, don't tell my my hair's going to be that crazy when I get big!"

"What's this thing for?"

"Maybe this bath thing's not too bad."

"You're not going to show these photos to my friends when I'm 16, are you?

Emma and Jenna were both good girls

"Man, my sister sure is silly," Jenna thinks

"Can I get some clothes on already?"

"Hey, give me a little privacy!"

Emma and Jenna got to listen to some bedtime stories after their bath

They were both getting a little sleepy

Jenna wasn't so sure about settling down for bed

Jenna hangs out
Jenna loves to play on her tummy... almost as much as she likes to suck her thumb! Click on the photos below to see more…

"My favorite blankie AND my thumb? JACKPOT!!"

"Nobody notices I'm sucking my thumb, do they?"

"This is a lot of work!"

"Watch out! I'm ALMOST on the move!"

"Who says I'm too litle to crawl?"

Go, Hawkeyes!
The girls both know you're never too little to cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes – especially when you're brainwashed by your mom! :-) Emma hit the nail on the head when she said, before the Iowa/ISU game, "Mom, the Cyclones are STINKY!!!" That's my girl! Click on the photos below to see more…

"Don't tell me there's a CYCLONE fan around here? Yuck!" Jen says

The Friday before the game was "Hawkeye/Cyclone" day at the girls' school... Of course, the girls had to dress accordingly. :-)

Jen says, "I predict a 17-10 Hawkeye victory!" (I told you our girls were smart!)

Even Jenna sported a Hawkeye tattoo, because you're never to little to show your team spirit!

Jenna's four months old!
Jenna was four months old on Sept. 12. At her well baby check-up, she was 16 pounds 9 ounces and 26.5" tall – both in the 95th percentile. She's doing great! Click on the photos below to see more…

Emma loves her little sister – sometimes too much!

"Whoa! That camera flash is bright!"

Jenna had three shots at her four-month well-baby appointment, and her poor chubby little legs were sore

The apple of our eye
On Sept. 15, Emma went on a field trip with her class to a local apple orchard. Troy went with her, and she had a great time. She was especially proud of the apple she picked! Click on the photos below to see more…

Minneapolis vacation
Troy took some training in Minneapolis in late September, and we went along for a little getaway. We went to the Mall of America and Minnesota Zoo, but Emma's favorite thing was staying at a hotel! Click on the photos below to see more…

Troy, Jenna and Emma before going swimming

Jenna's not sure if she's ready for swimming or not

Jenna went swimming for the first time on the vacation. She did great!

Emma liked the dolphin show at the Minnesota Zoo a lot — after she found it was okay that they splashed water outside the tank! :-)

The youngest dolphins in the show struts its stuff

Is Jenna clapping for the dolphins or trying to suck her thumb? Who knows... but she was very busy, as always.

Jami and the girls by the dolphin tank after the show

Emma was very brave and stood by a little shark

We've been visiting the Minnesota Zoo website to watch the new baby tigers as they grow. Here Emma gets up close to one of the zoo's newest additions.

Emma really wanted to see the wolves. This was a big breakthrough for her, because she used to be terribly afraid of them and was even having nightmares after the "naughty" wolves in "Beauty and the Beast" scared her. After seeing the wolves at the zoo, she realized they were just like dogs, and she felt much better. Her she is by the wolves statue.

Emma loved playing in one of the zoo's play areas — surprise, surprise. :-)

Jenna loved spending time at the hotel in her new exersaucer

"Yes, we've got trouble... Right here in River City..."
Does this look like they're up to something, or what? Click on the photo below to see more…

Full of beans
Jenna got to have baby food for the first time on September 24. What was her exciting menu? Green beans. She did great, even if she was too mad at first to open her eyes! Click on the photos below to see more…

"It doesn't take much to beat that cereal stuff you guys have been giving me."

"Hey, this isn't like the green bean casserole you guys told me about!"

"What? My food's already gone? I'd like seconds, please!"

Cutie girls
Who's the cutest? Emma and Jenna, of course! (No, again, I'm really not biased.) Click on the photos below to see more…

Jenna's getting to be a big girl

Jen's all smiles

Emma says, "Jenna... I am your sister... Search your feelings, you know them to be true." (I think she's been watching too much of Dad's new Star Wars trilogy DVD boxed set. Ha!) Use the force, Jen!

Two happy girls

Emma and Jenna had their first professional photos taken together on Sept. 25. Click on the photos below to see more…

Here's trouble just waiting to happen... Look at their faces!

The apples didn't fall farm from the tree
On Sept. 26, we took advantage of a beautiful afternoon to spend some time at the Cumming apple orchard. Click on the photos below to see more…

Our littlest pumpkin was excited about her first trip to the orchard

Emma and Troy on the hayrack ride to the pumpkin patch

The camera's this way, girls!

Anyone else think Troy and Jenna could have used some sunglasses? :-)

Jami and Jenna on the hayrack ride

Emma loved the hayrack ride, and seeing ponds, birds, pumpkins, and lots of the 6,000 apple trees at the orchard

Troy and Jenna relax on the hayrack ride

"Could someone tell my parents that this hat clashes with my outfit? ...How embarrassing!"

"Come on guys... You get apple dumplings with ice cream, and caramel apples, and I get a bottle? ...Give a girl a break!"

"...Okay, I guess my thumb will have to do, instead."

Jenna's still not sure it's fair that she doesn't get some of the great food at the orchard
